Because even if the 4th is over, you still need sparklers.
Domaine Carneros Cuvée de la Pompadour Brut Rosé (Carneros, California) $48
Raise a glass to Eileen Crane, the founding winemaker of Domaine Carneros, who helped define American sparkling wine and recently passed away. Just as Madame de la Pompadour introduced bubbles to Versailles, Eileen’s impact on American sparkling wine is hard to overstate.
Guinigi Sparkling Rosé (Tuscany, Italy) $24
Made from Sangiovese, this Tuscan sparkler has notes of fresh cherries, wild strawberries, and blood orange. Picnic-perfect.
Champagne Mandois Brut Origine (Champagne, France) $55
One of my favorite discoveries lately. Mandois is a grower Champagne, meaning the family grows the grapes and makes the wine themselves rather than buying fruit from across the region. Those are often some of the most distinctive bottles you’ll find: beautifully balanced, quietly complex.
