Just got back from an incredible trip to Honduras. It might sound shocking being grapefriend, but when I’m in the tropics all I crave is a fruity cocktail and I rarely drink wine. Here are the best I had.
monkey la la
This is everywhere in Honduras. Not a huge fan of creamy drinks (too filling, too much food clash potential), but if you are this was actually delicious. 1 oz vodka, 1 oz Kahlua, 4 oz half-and-half, 1 scoop ice cream, 2 oz cream of coconut, chocolate syrup to top it off!
bonito special
We stayed at this amazing eco-lodge in Pico Bonito National Park, and they serve you a Bonito Special upon arrival. It was fruit punch, cream of coconut, and rum. very refreshing for a rainforest welcome. I was more partial to the pineapple margarita, pictured on the right, which was just a margarita with fresh pineapple juice.
rum punch
Not a huge fan of fruit punch or rum, so that fact that I liked this drink says a lot!
mystery pineapple drink
Honestly I don’t even know what this was. I ordered something banana and I got this pineapple situation. But how can you argue with an umbrella drink?
rum runner
These were super delicious. And awesomely refreshing in the sun. 3/4 oz blackberry brandy, 3/4 oz banana liqueur, 1 oz dark rum, 1 1/2 oz light rum, 1 1/2 oz orange juice, 1 1/2 oz pineapple juice, 1/4 oz grenadine, ice.
piña colada
This is just your standard piña colada, but when it rains and you therefore have a private island all to yourself it tastes wayyy better 😉 Happy new year! May your days be filled with cocktails under palapas.
These look amazing! I always wonder about drinks and food in such wonderful places. Is it really good or just who you are with and the surroundings that make it so good.
I say a lot of both! Cheers 🙂
Looks damn good! Cheers!
