Just a quickie of some wine/fashion pairings from Fashion Week in that city near French wine country.
McQueen
Outré and gray. Perfect for Bonny Doon’s Vin Gris de Cigare. Winemaker Randall Grahm’s a rule breaker in Santa Cruz, and the wine is Vin Gris (“gray”) – even though it’s a rosé. Maybe Gaga will be inspired for her new wine.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Lacy and racy front row at Vuitton. Have to pair this with a black & white blend, like either a Northern Rhone (Syrah and Viognier) or Champagne (primarily Pinot Noir and Chardonnay).
Vuitton
A little feminine with the collar and the buttons (love), a little masculine paired with the pants. Just like the interplay between hard Cab and softer Merlot in a Bordeaux blend. Paris is so near Bordeaux, yet so far.
Lily Donaldson
At the Miss Dior launch party. This is just sooo classically pretty. Flowing and fresh, like a Pinot Blanc from Alsace. Plus it’s elegant like the thin flute bottles Alsatian wines come in.
Chanel
This top is layered and lime and lemon chiffony, like a Clare Valley Riesling. Australian Riesling’s are much more citrusy than ones from other places. Tangy and so interesting.
