fashion week wine shenanigans

Last year at the tents Kim Crawford Wines was a sponsor. I actually like the Sauvignon Blanc and think it’s very affordable, though I did think it was weird that a New Zealand wine was sponsoring New York Fashion Week. But, New York’s a melting pot I guess! Haven’t had to go to any shows this September, and all I heard was that they had Veuve at the Alice & Olivia show (no brainer).

brody jenner wine

chomp, sip, chomp, sip

I did hear that Brody Jenner was at the Abbey Dawn show chewing gum and drinking white wine. Klassy! Unfort, no details on what kind of wine it was. Reporters at the tents are, understandably, more focused on fashion than Falanghina. I can, however, assure you that whatever he was drinking didn’t go very well with minty gum. Or even fruity gum. JUST NO GUM WITH WINE. Do I even need to say this?

Anyway, since I wasn’t there myself I figured I’d just list some interesting wine-related fashion and fashion-related wine tidbits.

this is the barolo shirt

First, there’s this line of men’s shirts called UNTUCKit whose names are all wines: Margaret River, Stellenbosch, Calistoga. They all fall under collections like Crianza and Reserva which seem to relate to the price of the shirts. Still, don’t know why the Brunello one is yellow, since that’s a red wine made from Sangiovese grapes. But the shirts look pretty nice, and I’d drink wine with a guy wearing any one of them.

costs as much as a pair of diesel jeans

Second, did you know that  Renzo Russo from Diesel and Christian Audigier of Ed Hardy notoriety both have wines? The Diesel Farm wines are from Renzo’s vineyard in Marostica (in the Veneto region) and go for over $100 a bottle. They have a Bianco di Rosso (Chardonnay), Nero di Rosso (Pinot Noir), and a Rosso di Rosso (blend of Merlot and Cab Sauvignon), and they even make grappa and olive oil.

The Audigier ones are like 10-15 bucks and are called Le Vin Cool. And have busy tattoos on the bottle. Is anyone surprised?
