Less than 4% of Champagne’s vineyards are certified organic, but Leonardo DiCaprio became in investor in one of the houses that’s going to up that number. Champagne Telmont is on track to convert all estate-owned vineyards to organic agriculture by 2025 and their partner wingrowers’ by 2031. Currently their Réserve de la Terre is already all organic. In addition, they’re going green in many other ways:
- they no longer make or use giftbox packaging
- they stopped making transparent bottles, and will now use green bottles which are 100% recyclable and made from 85% recycled glass
- they source 100% of their electricity from renewable sources
- they no longer use air transportation for distribution since July 2021, instead using wind-powered maritime transport for lower CO2 emissions
Sooooo many reasons to pop more of these corks.
