meursault madness

Ah, it’s that time again. You get to watch games all day long, and this March 18 and 19 you won’t even have to try to hide it at work since we’re all still WFH. So you might not pop a bottle at the very first game, which starts pretty early in the day. But once you do decide to pop a cork, the strategy is to choose a lighter-side bottle that you can sip for a long time.

The Burgundy region of Meursault is known for its full-bodied, intense Chardonnay, but I recently had one of their red wine. Apparently only 1% of the vineyards are planted with Pinot Noir, and as much as the Chardonnay there is incredible this Domaine Matrot Meursault Rouge ($29.99) was absolutely delicious. Elegant and bright, with light notes of raspberry and red cherry.
