Mira Franc Blanc: One of the great things about wine is how vast a subject it is and how many grapes and winemaking styles there are. I love Cab Franc but had never had a white version before, so was intrigued. This didn’t have any of the funk you find in red versions from the Loire. Instead, lots of yellow melon with a waxy texture that reminded me of a Roussanne. Lovely. $65

Lievland Sauvignon Blanc: Loved the puckery passion fruit and tarragon in this Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa’s Cape South Coast. $45

Mark Ryan Untethered Bubbles: This sparkling Chardonnay from Washington’s Columbia Valley gives lots of golden apple fruit. Great for happy hours on the deck. $28
