I absolutely love port and often drink it after dinner in the winter. It’s pruny, sweet, thick and warms you up by the fire. Much to grapefriend’s summer happiness, they now make a rosé style!
Just like rosé wine, the pink version of port gets its color from the juice’s short exposure to the grape skins. It’s made from traditional port grapes – Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Franca – and is meant to be mixed, not drunk on its own like regular port.
I went to an event where they made all different cocktails out of Croft Pink Port and they were so yummy and refreshing for summer. My favorite was just pink port mixed with club soda, ice, and a slice of lemon – so easy and yet so good! We made them for my dad’s birthday (he’s a big port fan, too) and they were a huge hit.
There’s also a white port, and my fave cocktail made with that one was the white port mixed with club soda, ice, and basil. YUM.
Average price for a bottle of Croft Pink is $17, and you can find it plenty of places online or in store.
