Having as much learning about wine as you do when you’re drinking it!
I was a magazine entertainment editor and a producer at MTV until I got hooked on the grape. So I’ve spent a lot of time formally studying wine (I have a pretty fancy certification in both Viticulture & Vinification and Blind Tasting from the American Sommelier Association), but I’ve spent much more time reading US Weekly and watching Bravo. And even more just drinking and having a good time.
So here, you’ll have as much fun finding out about wine as you do when you’re drinking it. (I’ve also regularly written about wine for Marie Claire and Cosmo.) Grab a glass, read, comment, laugh and – most importantly – drink along!
the site looks great!
Thanks!
I know nothing about wine, and I love your blog–very informative and readable. I like Prosecco–can you recommend a good one? Also how about a good bubbly rose?
Thanks so much. sophia
Hi Sophia! Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco di Valdobbiadene (Valdobbiadene is the best region for Prosecco) is about $15, and I also see Zardetto everywhere. I usually buy Prosecco as a cheaper alternative to Champagne and don’t spend much on it (and you don’t really have to). As for a bubbly rose, Moet isn’t my favorite Champagne but I do really like their rose!
You are like my mental doppelganger. I mean, I am a twin, so I already have a doppelganger (who would love this site) but seriously. If I were me, but had the idea to write this blog, I would be you.
Love it – a true grapefriend! Come back and drink often – we’re everywhere!
Great blog, glad I found you! I live in the Gaillac region of SW France – quite well known for it’s wine here in France. Worth checking out if you are ever on a French wine tasting tour!
Thanks, Denise! Hopefully life will bring me to France sooner rather than later. Until then, cheers!
Do you have any suggestions for a summer sangria? Would you use a white or a blush?
Not a blush – too sweet. I’d use a fruity white like Pinot Gris if you want white sangria, or a light fruity red like Beaujolais (or even a heavier Spanish rosado) for red sangria. Enjoy!
Hi, I just added you to my blog role. I plan on visiting you again. Thanks for being consistent and providing interesting, relevant topics. Cheers to you grapefriend!
What a great site! I’ve read several posts, and I look forward to coming back and pouring over the posts here. Thank you very much for your like of my post on my little blog Oenophilogical regarding a Cabernet Franc I recently met. Here’s to grape drinking and grape blogging.
Thank you! And I actually had that same Bebame at the Dutch – wasn’t in love, wound up with a Willamette Pinot! Cheers 🙂
Thanks for bringing some fun an pep to wine! Not that a good vintage isn’t appreciated, but you prove that enjoying it doesn’t have to feel antique
awesome to hear and so glad you like it!
thank you! cheers, grapefriend!
Hi grapefriend. Thanks for popping into my Italian life blog. I’m loving these Italian wines but am impressed by your selections. Keep them coming!

I swear I have never liked the combination of wine and pop-culture, being an old-fashioned European, but you do that really well! Thank you for inspiration and sharing!
Cheers!!!
Sweet! Like the Mad Men dish…looking forward to browsing and learning!
Great little blog. I am heading over to the US in September maybe you can give me some good pointers from the east coast to try
Thanks for stopping by our blog today for a view. Love to read about (and of course drink) wine. My nephew just passed Level @ Sommelier, so very exciting to experience his learning through tastings with him. Take care, and I’ll be back for a refill soon! LOL!
Wow, congrats to your nephew! Awesome to see so many people getting so into the grape!
Thanks for checking out my blog and introducing me to yours! As a grape groupie myself, I absolutely love your posts. In case you want to experiment with Tempernillo varieties, a surprisingly good and inexpensive one to try is Venta Morales (orange label with gray looks like barbed wire). Look forward to following along!
Great blog! and thanks for visiting mine. love your mad men post.
Cheers!
How amazing is your about me!! Very exciting! I am rrae1 on Instagram. I will keep reading and tagging you 🙂
Richelle
Excellent! Drink well and have fun 🙂
Bonjour from the French Riviera! Thanks for visiting my blog and all the best for yours.
Bonjour back – salut!!
Thank you so much for taking a look at drawing, cheers!
Glad you like my odd post. Red for me, most of the time. But a nice chilled white on one of those hot summer afternoons. With shrimp and garlic.
Most of all, I want a sippy cup, and know lots of people who would love one. Thanks for posting it.
I am now following you. 🙂
Hi Alyssa, thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post! I can’t wait to try that Paso Viognier, I love California central coast wines!
Thank you for stopping by my blog and the “Like” of my post.
Wine and pop culture? I think we are going to be friends…
Cheers!
What a fun idea!! My dad has been super into wine for the past year or so, taking dvd courses and such. We’ve all gotten really into it, so happy to find your blog! 🙂
awesome – cheers!
Great Blog! I found you through Pintrest, you have lots of great pics on there.
Awesome! Welcome and cheers!
Any friend of wine is a friend of mine!
I have enjoyed painting images of beautiful wine bottles and labels, but am not knowledegable about what wines are good. Thank you for the ‘like,’ your blog will be helpful!
Love your logo!
Thank you so much – cheers!!
Going to checkout the content, but so far I love the logo – excellent!
Great site you have here, lots of good info! Thanks for visiting my site and liking my post! Would be great to know what wine you’d recommend for spicy foods.
Hey, Hot Lollies – Can I just add that cool whites go well with spicy foods? A nice chilly Reisling or a Gewurztraminer, both on the sweet side, offsets that spice, getting your palate ready for the next bite.
Thanks Robin!
Hi there! Thank you for visiting my blog, I’m glad you enjoyed my post ‘Champagne it is Then’ and I can see why after visiting your blog! Loved those Californian wines when I lived there on the Central Coast and of course French wine isn’t too shabby either!
I’m just getting started with my blog, thanks so much for the like! I’m suddenly embarrassed that you had to read about me referring to all whites as ‘chardonnay,’ I failed to mention in that post that I have since matured in my drinking and understanding of wine 🙂 I look forward to your space here!
Nice you dropped by my blog. I’m all for fruit of the vine. Hope to learn something about it here. Looks and sounds like an interesting place here.
Thanks for the like on my blog post! I love wine and I loved Napa Valley!!
I have just found my new bgf….best grapefriend! awesome blog….you had me at wine and bravo! looking forward to all your drinking and dishing! thanks for visiting me at lovelaughterandlipgloss~cheers, sara!

Your blog is hilarious! “Stars-They’re just like wine!”, is way too cute and clever. Love it!
Thank you! Cheers!
So, how do the blind taste?
Thanks for visiting my blog. I very much enjoyed yours. Living in the wine country for the past 22 years has been a joy. Hoping to try a new challenge bt moving to the desert. So finding your blog will keep me close to a subject I sooooooo enjoy.
“Grab a glass, read, comment, laugh and – most importantly – drink along!” Great Slogan ! Love your blog !

You can write. I’ll follow.
Well thank you! Your site is incredibly educational, though not sure if you’re still posting. Lots of info nonetheless!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! I’m thrilled to have discovered you as a result, because anyone who writes so engagingly about my beloved Sonoma is a definite friend!
Cheers,
Lorrie
cheers, grapefriend!
Thanks for stopping by our new blog. Always good to find more wine lovers out there. We also love mixing things with wine that most people don’t think go together, wine and pop culture, fruit wine, you get the idea. Laudations! (I abhor cheers, but I need something)
I used to hate cheers too, but I succumbed since it has relevance. In normal life, never! 🙂
Fellow wine geeks unite! Excited to follow your blog.
Cheers, grapefriend!
Thank you so much for dropping by my blog! Wine is certainly something dear to our hearts too, so as you can imagine much fun was had in the Loire and Burgundy!
Thank you for taking a look at my page. Cheers!
Grape minds think alike! Merci, too, for visiting my blog.
Hi! I nominated you for the Liebster Award. Thanks for being a grape friend!
I am drinking along all the time…..wine is an elixir not an alcohol! Great reading….:-)
I am coming back to get some ideas for some meals I will be cooking. Our sommelier in culinary school was pretty great! I got a recommendation from her for my wedding drink. We ended up ordering Cava (not sure the brand now) but it was the best.
Cool, come back often! There are so many good bubbly values – Prosecco and Crémant are great. Cheers!
Having a glass right now! Thanks for liking my post! Linda.
Thanks for visiting my blog. Yours looks very interesting!
I LOVE wine. My favorite is red. I can’t wait to read more on your blog.
Thanks for visiting my work at theillustratedwine.wordpress.com
You’re a girl after my own heart: solid booze chops AND junk escapism — I guiltily do ‘Us’, ‘People’, and the ‘Housewives’ franchise (except for ‘Mob Wives’ — I loved them but the relentless threats of violence raised my cortisol levels to in-traffic levels so I had to stop watching).
Cheers!
Zelda Sydney
Thanks so much for the follow! I love your site. It’s great to read a blog written by someone who enjoys, and knows, wine so much!
A votre santé and thank you for stopping by one of my blogs!
Thanks for liking my post on my second date with my kids…an absolute fail. I should get on my grape, too and catch up on the Bravo…I think I’m a week behind! Yikes!
Just a little heads up I “nominated” your blog for the Shine On blog award! Thanks for de-mystifying the wonderful world of wine for me.
http://genevieveingenue.wordpress.com (It’s the post with the Macaron as a picture, I thought the award logo was kinda weird looking).
Genevieve
Cheers to that – thank you!
thanks so much for liking my ‘object’ photo, I say with a glass of red in my hand. What a cool blog you have!
Cheers!
