Swifties know that Taylor is a grapefriend, but looks like her boyfriend is getting into the grape too. Travis Kelce recently gave his mom Donna two bottles of wine for Mother’s Day: a 1988 Leroy Les Beaux Monts and a 2018 Pomerol. Let’s assess, shall we?
The Leroy is a Vosne Romanée: A rich, refined Pinot Noir from Burgundy. Although it’s a Premier Cru from one of the better appellations in the Côte de Nuits area, it’s not a Grand Cru like Romanée-Conti or La Tâche. The dude is making millions so could’ve afforded that — but maybe he’s feeling out Donna’s palate for now and will go for the splurges later. $250 here
We don’t have producer details on the 2018 Pomerol, which is an appellation in Bordeaux. If it was a Pétrus—one of the best wines around, 100% Merlot from Bordeaux with notes of olive, mushroom, and dark chocolate—that would go for about $4200 here.
Much better (maybe too much) for a woman who recently paired hot dogs with Barefoot.
